Setting Your PC Clock
How to avoid daylight savings time changes and other "surprises" of
how Windows keeps time.
If you have your computer set to GMT London time zone, you may find the program logs
the time fine all winter but is off by one hour during the summer. This is because the UK
has summer time which changes their clocks by one hour (just like daylight savings time in
the US). Go to your control panel and set the time zone to "Monrovia,
Casablanca" instead of London. Those guys don't go on daylight time.
If you look carefully at the control panel, it will tell you that it thinks you're in a
time zone that observes daylight time (thus the one hour shift). Turning off the check box
doesn't mean you're not doing daylight time--it means you don't want the machine to
automatically switch over on the appropriate day.
