Setting up the WriteLog internet logbook server

The Writelog Internet logbook connects to a server that must be installed on the internet. Most normal Internet Service Provider connections that you would have in order to access the internet from your shack do not provide the necessary support. Setting up the WriteLog internet logbook server takes some special expertise. So if you want to setup such a logbook, and you don't understand the terms here, then you'll need to find someone who does.

Start by downloading the server from here: WriteLogServer.zip.

In that zip file is Instructions.txt. It has step by step instructions. But be aware that those instructions are sketchy. You need to know something about setting up a web server to make your way through it.

The WriteLog internet logbook QSO server is written in Java and uses the Apache SOAP toolkit. That Apache SOAP toolkit is most easily deployed in the Apache Tomcat web server. But there are other alternatives. You need to browse the Apache documentation.

The WriteLog server is provided with full source code. So if want to run it on a Microsoft server, I am sure it is possible to port it to C# and .NET.
